Some of you may cringe at buying used clothes but I love it. Over the last 4 years I cannot believe the bargains I have gotten on gently used clothes and some brand spanking new.
I participate in out 3 companies in Montgomery, Alabama. The last one I did I sold some of my daughters old clothes and made $147.00. Yipee!!!! However, I bought around $80 for the Spring/Summer. I never buy anything that I think will not hold its value because I want my daughter to have good quality clothes that I can sell again next year.
Funny Story: My daughter was eating spaghetti and spilled sauce on one of her outfits and came to me running saying, "Mom I need the shout hurry." I realized I had instilled in her to be careful with her clothing because we needed to sell those in a few months.
Ways to Maximize Earnings at Consignment Sales:
- Make sure clothes are free of stains (use shout to get stains out)
- Use appropriate size hangers
- Iron clothing (it will sell faster)
- Price items about 1/3 the amount of retail
- If possible pair outfits together instead of separately
Usually consignment sales charge an upfront fee of $7 and give you 65% of the sale while they take 35%.
Have you done any consignment sales recently? Do you have any tips?
